Last night I attended the 30th annual Mooning at The Laird Hotel with my host for the evening, the very lovely WAYNE from Lucrezia & de Sade.  The night was well attended with a record breaking line to get in (that line being "Do you know who I am" - no I didn't use it.)  Once inside it was a feast for the eyes with sexy blokes sucking on stubbies in every corner.  There was some rabbits pulled from arses and tunes played on recorders that I didn't need to hear or see.  Judith Lucy Auctioned several prizes and brought the house down with a fantastic stand up sketch. Very very funny!

I caught up with Peter Fitzgerald, the current Mr Laird Leatherman 2009 who was one of the judges for the night.  Wayne made it possible to chat with Tex McKenzie from the Victorian Aids Council about my ads for the Staying Negative Campaign.

Dean Beck from Titan Men and Joy FM was also on hand helping with judging.  We had a quick chat but Dean was quite busy.  I spoke briefly with Richard the co-owner of Mannhaus who has kindly agreed to selling some of the Brookes Trust belt clips.

Luckily I got a chance to speak to Malcolm Guest (Mr Laird Leatherman 2008) who has graciously offered to give me some tips and advice about the procedures etc of the events in Chicago.  Laurie Lane who hosted and compared the evening also offered his advise which will be gratefully taken.  Laurie has been to dozens of IML's and will be attending again this year.

Wayne and myself also bumped into Alex Schoefield who had a healthy drink or two.  After much discussion about the paying methods of patrons in the Laird, I shouted us all a round and Wayne shouted the cigarettes.

There were many more interesting people we encountered for the evening including Ben, the Sydney boy who Wayne thought was sexy and I must concur.  There was Sexy Abe (phone number acquired) and Dave the somewhat drunk boy that pinched a cig from Wayne and amused him for 5 minutes with chit chat.  He was a top fella and hats off to ya Dave.  You kept Wayne off my back for awhile.

The night slipped away but was not over yet.  Wayne and myself toddled off towards the Sircuit Bar and although it was the same path taken to arrive, it was a somewhat more wonky path that we departed on.

At Sircuit Bar Chris introduced me to the very very sexy and endearing Anthony De' Fina who sang earlier in the night.  It was agreed by all that his talents were well applauded and I agreed that I would get to see him next Friday night.  We discussed many interesting topics including the similarity in our clothing apparel our hair cuts.  We also discussed the FANTASTIC idea of Anthony possibly traveling with me on my visits interstate.  I reiterated to Chris what a great idea this was then the topic got lost and we somehow ended the conversation with me coming in for a sound check at 2pm today (which is where I am off to now.)

Over and out truckers

Saturday was a busy day.  I spent all of the morning doing administration work and writing emails in relation to the launch of the Brookes Trust.

In the afternoon I went into Sircuit Bar for sound checks and rehearsals. There was also packing of the belt clips into bags and boxes.

In the evening, Wayne and myself had dinner with Clarence and Tim from Saddle Bar (Sydney) along with their friend, the very handsome Sam. Dinner was nice and the conversation productive.  There was much discussion about the issues both Sydney Leather Pride and Melbourne Leather Pride face.

After Dinner it was onto Sircuit Bar for the Launch.  There was a large crowd and audience participation in the speeches was a little overwhelming at times however I believe our message was heard.

We managed to sell approx 20 belt clips.  A very big thank you to Andrew Finlayson for his help in cashiering.  Also a very big thanks to Dean for his spectacular performance singing "golden shower."  Brilliant!!

Anthony De' Fina was present showing his support although I only got to chat to him briefly.

Overall a successful and fun night.

Despite the 39 degree heat, I managed to make my way to Chasers on Chapel street in full leather.  My friend (and plus 1) was Simon who (for his first leather party) took to the event like a duck to water.

There was a good size crowd and a fantastic atmosphere.  The music was enjoyable and all DJ's performed well.  It is always a pleasure to go to these events and meet beautiful down to earth people.  The venue works well although tends to always have heating/cooling issues.

The star of the night was the incredibly sexy African American, Quoh with his washboard abs and chisiled, sweaty, perfectly proportioned muscles.  Oh and did anyone notice the package in those tight green soccer shorts. I think you gave everyone there something to put in the bank!  Thanks Quoh

Thanks must go to Alex and Gus for working the cloak room.

The after party was held at Sircuit bar where a surprisingly enthusiastic crowd partied on.  I got a chance to speak to Andrew who is one of the two behind the success of Beyond.  I would like to quote his response when asked if the night was successful: "It is always a success when you all have fun."  Hear, hear Andrew.  We had a ball.  Thank you!!

“The Journey” Begins Sircuit Leatherman 2009

Friday day was a very busy day for me with my day job so by the time Friday night came around there was not a lot of energy left.   Went to Sircuit for a few ales to wash away the days stress.

Met Ken from New York who gave Shimon and myself plenty of advice on where to go and what to do in the Big Apple.  Apparently a hot little venue downstairs on 26th Street in between 5th and 6th Avenue is a good place to start (wink wink).  Thanks Ken and look forward to meeting your mates over there.

Watched Anthiny De'Fina  sing again. Always a pleasure to stand and stare at his amazing body.  The show was a bit late so poked home pretty much straight after (well no such thing as straight so "gaily" after)

10/4 Big Daddy. We got ourselves a convoy.
Over an Out

Saturday night was Boot Club night at Sircuit, where you can get your boots polished, your hair buzzed, your future told and your knob blown.  All this along with some good company, great music by the very ripped and talented DJ Courtney and of course cold BEER.

It was a hot night so the cold beer was going down well and the tunes were particularly funky from DJ Courtney.  I had a stall set up to promote the Brookes Trust and to sell more Belt Clips.  They are going like hot cakes so get in quick. $59!!

Thank you to Adam who kindly volunteered his time to help sell the clips.  It was fun to be in the stall with you so I am glad you came along.

Happy Birthday to Graham who works at Sircuit and celebrated by having the night off.  First time he has had a Saturday night off since the bar opened so well deserved I reckon.

I spoke with Greg Ivossen who gave me more advice for IML and perhaps the best advice so far: "Go to win but go to have a good time as well."  I hear ya and will be doing my best to have a GREAT time!!!

I met up with three lovely boys celebrating 21 years of knowing each other.  Warren, Glen and Mick.  It looks like their celebrations had been going for 21 years by the time I saw them.  Warren declared himself Mr Cotton 2010 (thats Egyptian Cotton if you don't mind and 30,000 ply).  I didn't know cotton came in ply's but thanks Mr Cotton 2010, i have some competition on my hands (no seriously, i do, he is bloody hot).  Actually there was titles all round.  Glen was Mr Dalesford 1973 (ooh, i am going to get in trouble for that.)

Another fun night on the town in Melbourne.  What a great city yeah??
